Children with ADHD are a joy to live with, but can take a lot out of a parent. Hi there and welcome to Living with ADHD; a place where parents can get together to talk about issues we all face with our highly energetic, sometimes erratic, often unpredictable children with ADHD and associated disorders. I am Rick and my wife is Katie. We have four children (one diagnosed with ADHD and another with ADD). Just like you we are always very busy and as such it can be a daunting task to find time to look for help. It is our hope that this site will be easy to navigate and get you exactly the advice you are looking for. We also hope that you will meet new friends here, get valuable tools and information, and pass on your own knowledge and experiences. Our knowledge of Living with ADHD has been gained through our life with our son Anthony, whom we call Andy in honor of his Theos Anthony. Katie's side of the family is Greek by heritage and Theos is the Greek word for Uncle. Andy has always been very full of energy, especially so when he was much younger. He will be 16 on the 22nd of February, 2009, but our story begins about 14 years back when Andy was two. Andy and Peter (our oldest son, now 17) were able to wear both Katie and I out each day. They would be up before daylight, move non-stop all day and take every effort imaginable to get to bed by 9 or 10 after starting the process at 7. Together they could tear up the house if left to their devices for more than two minutes. There was no rest, so please believe me when I say we know how you feel, but do take heart that it does not have to be that way. Lots of people are out there going through the same things that you are or have been through the same things and have learned ways to make their home a relaxed, enjoyable place to be.
